EVALUATION - QUESTION 4

How did you use new technologies in the construction and research; planning and evaluation stages?

I have used many different type of technologies while creating my products. i have also used a variety for my research and planning stages.
The different technologies and how i have used them are posted below:

- Internet & Blogger
I have used Internet search engine such as 'Google'. i have used this mainly in my research stages when wanting information about individual digi packs, advertisement and also background history of products and artists. Google provides a range of functions which allow it to be easily functional. such as: Images, News, Web, Videos and also to have your own Google Account.

When Creating your own Google Account it allows you to use Blogger. I have used blogger to present my work. this is a easy format to use as i do not have to worry about additional papers as all my work is in one place. Blogger also allows you to share your work with a group (this worked well when working in groups for our products as we could all ensure we had the same documentation.)
An image of my "blogger dashboard" is below:

- Facebook
Facebook is a 'Social Networking Website' which many people of our target audience use on a daily basis. We used Facebook in order to receive some of our audience feedback as its an easy access for both myself and my target audience. I created a 'Facebook Group' to gather feed back on my MUSIC VIDEO product. this allowed me to insert links and to group information all in one place.

- YouTube
YouTube was used through out the process of this media coursework. i used it in my research to look up different types of music videos, so i could analyse them in suitability for my own project. From this i used the 'Embed' tool on the videos i have watched to post them onto my blogger account.
I used YouTube through my planning stages to upload the videos i have created on 'Windows Movie Maker' as it was a quick and easy method to use for uploading.
In my construction stage YouTube then allowed me to compress my file and upload (even though it had poor quality) it made my product accessible for a reference to be uploaded to my blogger account.
A screen grad of my videos on YouTube are posted below:

- Photoshop cs4

Photoshop was used through out the planning and construction stage of my project, to allow me to gain best results while creating my drafts for print. it also allowed us as a group to create a professional Digipack and Advertisement poster product.
However Photoshop was new to me and took some getting used to. I felt it was much more effective then using 'Microsoft Publisher' as you have all the individual tools to create more effective ideas and effects.

- IMovie
Imovie played a bit part during our construction section of this project. it was used mainly for 'Editing' Imovie allowed us to divide all our footage up that we had taken and put it into an order of preference for our story board. it was easy to import our song also as it had an effective bit simple timeline.

Imovies titling effects allowed us to successfully create a suitable Title for our music video from its list of effects.
My title is shown below:

It had many different effects to choose from and was set out in a simple format whereas beginners such as my self can understand and use to their full advantage.
Below is an image of the effects you may use for Titling in you Video Products:

Imovie also had various other effects we could use such as Transitions. These are used when you want to fade from shot to shot without it looking so Sharp and messy.
Below is an image of the transition effects:

You could also ass VIDEO FX which allowed you to apply many things to your video depending on your intentions. we Explored as a group all of the different effects to find the best one for your narrative. As we wanted to have meaning behind our effects; instead of just "throwing" them in.
Below is a image of us experimenting with the colour effects:

- Itunes
Itunes allowed us to buy and import the song 'UFO- Poppy and the Jezebels' It was a good device to have as itunes is recognised everywhere (on our home computers, college computers and macs). This was used in our planning and construction stages.
Below is an image of itunes:

- EDrawSoft
An effective software i personally used was downloaded from 'Edrawsoft.com' This was a Mindmap and Flowchart software which allowed me in my Research, Planning and Evaluation to group information together and easily import it into a mindmap which was neat tidy and effective. this was all a very quick an easy way to do a diagram as it is specifically made to do so.
An image below is of the software:

- JVC 300 Camcorder
As a group we had to use the JVC 300 Camcorder instead of the Song HVR A1 Camcorder due to none being available on our day of filming. We were not at any disadvantage as they were both very similar pieces of equipment and had the same features.
this was used in our Construction stages.
An image of the camera is below:

- Apple Mac
'Apple Macs' were very important during our Construction stage. If we did not have an apple mac then we would not be able to use IMovie, and as i have discussed above; this is a very big part of our product. An Apple Mac allowed us to easily use functions that were not available on a Windows Computer.
Below is a picture of me using the Apple Mac.

- Mobile Phone (Samsung Tocco Ultra)
i have used the convergence of my Mobile phone in my evaluation stage to voice record my commentary. i did this due to availability of Voice Recorders in our college and the practicality of home use.

- Digital Camera (FujiFilm 12.2MPX)
My camera was of great use through out the planning, construction and evaluation stages, as it is multi-purposeful and allows images as well as videos. it is very small and light so it could be used on a daily basis if needed. my camera allowed me to easily capture images that were not available to do so in other ways VIA computer. My camera also allowed me to gain accurate feedback from my audience after the project, as i have a video and image of our projects already on my camera to show t them. i was able to easily import theme images and videos from my camera to computer via a cable- so it was practical.

- Windows Movie Maker
Windows movie maker was a device used personally due to lack of software at home. it was a quick and simple way of creating videos during my planning and evaluation stages; using a basic timeline. i created videos such as focus groups and anamatic videos from storyboards using this device. i feel it was very successful. the format of the videos creating on this software was then easily able to be transformed and uploaded onto programs such as YouTube.
