EVALUATION - QUESTION 1

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

This is a running commentary to explain the effects and ideas of our Music Video. The quality is poor due to compression while uploading onto YouTube.

I have used the convergence of technology of a voice recorder on a mobile phone to do the commentary. i then imported this audio onto windows movie player along with the YouTube video of our product to create one product of a commentary.

It is posted below:

EVALUATION - QUESTION 2

How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

To Answer this Question i have asked one question to 20 people in my target audiences age range.
- 10 boys
- 10 girls.

The Question i have asked is :
"How effective are all of my 3 products on a scale of 1 - 10 (10 being the highest)"
My Results are below:
..

My results show from an audience perspective that the effectiveness of my products should be rather at 8/10. this to me as a producer seems like it is very effective.
However i need to explore this in other ways.

Another way to access the effectiveness of my products is to compare then to real products on the market.
They are posted in forms of diagrams below:

My music videos effectiveness would be about a 7/10 due to it fits in with the narrative and theme of the videos well. as can be compared to 'Florence and the Machine- Dog Days'. It has very successful costumes, location, actors and lighting, However what lets it down is the camera angles.

The overall effectiveness for my project will be 8/10 because it is all consistent- this is called CROSS MEDIA ADVERTISING and will increase the economic success of the project as a whole as its easily recognised my the audience.. There is a lot of room for improvement, but as it stands it fits in with my target audiences criteria and needs. There is also a gap in the market for this type of video so i feel i have created a solution for it.

EVALUATION - QUESTION 3

What have you learnt from your audience feedback?

I will use this Questionnaire to get written audience feedback on all 3 products. this will then allow me to see the advantages ad disadvantages to my products. The questionnaire is posted below:

Here is my Questionnaire Results:

These results made me feel quite shocked and confused. i eliminated factors within the questionnaire but it still did not answer my worries and confusion (it lead me to wanting to know more information of what my audience think)

Because some of this feedback from questionnaires lead to me wanting to know more about their decisions- i made a focus group to try and eliminate why certain factors were occurring.
This is our Focus Group for our audience feedback- it shows each product with individual feedback from people who fit in with our target audience criteria; the video is posted below:

This feed back re-assured me to what the problems were with my products and why my questionnaire results were so 'scatty' and confusing.

To keep my feedback consistent and within the technology my target audience are using everyday; i decided to create a Facebook group asking them pacifically about what they thought of the MUSIC VIDEO.
The link is below:

http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=121391187873854&ref=ts#!/group.php?gid=121391187873854&ref=ts

Here are some screen shots of recent posts on this Facebook group:

From reading these Facebook comments i felt more relieved about my predictions about what i thought they meant form the questionnaires, and they were correct.
From the feedback on Facebook; to improve my 'Print' products i must make each product not as dark and more eye catching, but still keep it as consistent as i have done.
To improve my Video, i must add more types of camera shots and attempt different locations.

I felt it was necessary to gain audience feedback from my drafts; as i thought the missing elements our audience feel are missing are touched upon in early drafts. This inspired me to put together a final and draft product to see what improvement could be made to create a 'Perfect' product. Audience feedback allowed me to make comparisons about drafts and final products to give me in site on how to improve if i was to complete the product again.
A comparison of drafts are below:

Over all i was not too shocked to the audience feedback as i have obtained both positive and negative feedback. If you do not have Negative feedback you will never be able to improve you skill. and EVERYONE has different opinions - this makes us unique which will reflect on products of the future.

EVALUATION - QUESTION 4

How did you use new technologies in the construction and research; planning and evaluation stages?

I have used many different type of technologies while creating my products. i have also used a variety for my research and planning stages.
The different technologies and how i have used them are posted below:

- Internet & Blogger
I have used Internet search engine such as 'Google'. i have used this mainly in my research stages when wanting information about individual digi packs, advertisement and also background history of products and artists. Google provides a range of functions which allow it to be easily functional. such as: Images, News, Web, Videos and also to have your own Google Account.

When Creating your own Google Account it allows you to use Blogger. I have used blogger to present my work. this is a easy format to use as i do not have to worry about additional papers as all my work is in one place. Blogger also allows you to share your work with a group (this worked well when working in groups for our products as we could all ensure we had the same documentation.)
An image of my "blogger dashboard" is below:

- Facebook
Facebook is a 'Social Networking Website' which many people of our target audience use on a daily basis. We used Facebook in order to receive some of our audience feedback as its an easy access for both myself and my target audience. I created a 'Facebook Group' to gather feed back on my MUSIC VIDEO product. this allowed me to insert links and to group information all in one place.
A screen shot of my created Facebook group is below:

- YouTube
YouTube was used through out the process of this media coursework. i used it in my research to look up different types of music videos, so i could analyse them in suitability for my own project. From this i used the 'Embed' tool on the videos i have watched to post them onto my blogger account.
I used YouTube through my planning stages to upload the videos i have created on 'Windows Movie Maker' as it was a quick and easy method to use for uploading.
In my construction stage YouTube then allowed me to compress my file and upload (even though it had poor quality) it made my product accessible for a reference to be uploaded to my blogger account.
A screen grad of my videos on YouTube are posted below:

- Photoshop cs4

Photoshop was used through out the planning and construction stage of my project, to allow me to gain best results while creating my drafts for print. it also allowed us as a group to create a professional Digipack and Advertisement poster product.
However Photoshop was new to me and took some getting used to. I felt it was much more effective then using 'Microsoft Publisher' as you have all the individual tools to create more effective ideas and effects.

- IMovie
Imovie played a bit part during our construction section of this project. it was used mainly for 'Editing' Imovie allowed us to divide all our footage up that we had taken and put it into an order of preference for our story board. it was easy to import our song also as it had an effective bit simple timeline.

Imovies titling effects allowed us to successfully create a suitable Title for our music video from its list of effects.
My title is shown below:

It had many different effects to choose from and was set out in a simple format whereas beginners such as my self can understand and use to their full advantage.
Below is an image of the effects you may use for Titling in you Video Products:

Imovie also had various other effects we could use such as Transitions. These are used when you want to fade from shot to shot without it looking so Sharp and messy.
Below is an image of the transition effects:

You could also ass VIDEO FX which allowed you to apply many things to your video depending on your intentions. we Explored as a group all of the different effects to find the best one for your narrative. As we wanted to have meaning behind our effects; instead of just "throwing" them in.
Below is a image of us experimenting with the colour effects:

- Itunes
Itunes allowed us to buy and import the song 'UFO- Poppy and the Jezebels' It was a good device to have as itunes is recognised everywhere (on our home computers, college computers and macs). This was used in our planning and construction stages.
Below is an image of itunes:

- EDrawSoft
An effective software i personally used was downloaded from 'Edrawsoft.com' This was a Mindmap and Flowchart software which allowed me in my Research, Planning and Evaluation to group information together and easily import it into a mindmap which was neat tidy and effective. this was all a very quick an easy way to do a diagram as it is specifically made to do so.
An image below is of the software:

- JVC 300 Camcorder
As a group we had to use the JVC 300 Camcorder instead of the Song HVR A1 Camcorder due to none being available on our day of filming. We were not at any disadvantage as they were both very similar pieces of equipment and had the same features.
this was used in our Construction stages.
An image of the camera is below:

- Apple Mac
'Apple Macs' were very important during our Construction stage. If we did not have an apple mac then we would not be able to use IMovie, and as i have discussed above; this is a very big part of our product. An Apple Mac allowed us to easily use functions that were not available on a Windows Computer.
Below is a picture of me using the Apple Mac.

- Mobile Phone (Samsung Tocco Ultra)
i have used the convergence of my Mobile phone in my evaluation stage to voice record my commentary. i did this due to availability of Voice Recorders in our college and the practicality of home use.

- Digital Camera (FujiFilm 12.2MPX)
My camera was of great use through out the planning, construction and evaluation stages, as it is multi-purposeful and allows images as well as videos. it is very small and light so it could be used on a daily basis if needed. my camera allowed me to easily capture images that were not available to do so in other ways VIA computer. My camera also allowed me to gain accurate feedback from my audience after the project, as i have a video and image of our projects already on my camera to show t them. i was able to easily import theme images and videos from my camera to computer via a cable- so it was practical.
An image of my camera is below:

- Windows Movie Maker
Windows movie maker was a device used personally due to lack of software at home. it was a quick and simple way of creating videos during my planning and evaluation stages; using a basic timeline. i created videos such as focus groups and anamatic videos from storyboards using this device. i feel it was very successful. the format of the videos creating on this software was then easily able to be transformed and uploaded onto programs such as YouTube.
A screen shot of me using this soft where is below:

FINAL MAIN PRODUCT - Music Video

This is our Final product of our Music Video. The quality is poor on blogger due to compressing it into a smaller file so it would upload with the media of YouTube.

FINAL ANXILLARY PRODUCTS: Advert Poster & Digi-Pack

The Advert contains the information that it needs; Poppy and the Jezebels are an unsigned band so there is no need for labels etc to be named. As this a project and there is no single to be published, so therefore no stores are named for copyright reasons. I have included fan pages and music bases.
The FINAL advert poster is posted below:

This poster keeps within the theme of the Digi-Pack for the single, so it can all be recognised in shops as it does not differ to much.

The FINAL Digi-Pack is posted below:

I have reinforced the measurements used, to make sure we stick on target and our Digi Pack is in the right layout and size:

Our creation is below:

The Inside Cover Reads the 'Lyrics' of the song.
The Back cover Reads the 'Credits' which include the bands name and producer, the date released, and our names who have created this project.
